Privacy Policy
Effective October 17, 2026
The short version: we collect your Google name, email, and picture to sign you in, and your study progress so it follows you to any device. Teachers see your progress only in classes you choose to join. We don’t sell your information, show ads, or track you across other sites. You can delete your account and everything in it at any time.
Who we are
CertyStudy is a study app for certification exams. It’s made by Connor Corkum, Eli Lauterbach, and Garjuyen Johnson (“CertyStudy,” “we,” or “us”). You can reach us at certistudybusiness@gmail.com.
What we collect
- From Google, when you sign in: your name, email address, profile picture, and Google’s ID for your account. We never see your Google password, and CertyStudy can’t read your Gmail, Drive, contacts, or anything else in your Google account.
- Your study progress: your answers to practice questions, practice exams and quizzes, flashcard reviews, procedures you practice, starred cards and bookmarks, the days you study, your study buddy, and settings such as your certification, test dates, and state.
- Classes: the classes you teach, the classes you join, and any roster names teachers give students in their classes.
- A sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in. CertyStudy needs it to work. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.
- Test trial applications on certystudy.com: your email address, your first name if you give it, whether you’re a student, teacher, or something else, and your answers to the application’s questions. To limit abuse, we also keep a scrambled (hashed) form of your network address that can’t be traced back to you after the day you sign up.
- Feedback you send through the form on certystudy.com (your message, and your name and email if you include them), and through the app’s Feedback and Report a problem buttons (your rating and message, which page or question you were on, and your account).
- Technical logs: our host, Cloudflare, handles every request to our sites and keeps standard logs (such as IP address, browser type, and the pages requested) for security and troubleshooting.
How we use it
- To run CertyStudy: sign you in, save your progress, and keep it in sync across your devices.
- To show teachers the progress of students in their classes.
- To review test trial applications and email approved applicants the link to the app. We don’t add you to a mailing list.
- To answer your feedback and questions, and to decide what to fix and build next.
- To keep CertyStudy secure and working, and to find and fix problems.
- To improve our study content, for example by learning which questions are hardest.
We don’t sell your personal information, we don’t show ads, and we don’t build advertising profiles.
Who can see your information
- You.
- Teachers of classes you join. They see your name, email, profile picture, and your progress for the class’s certification: readiness, scores by topic, when you last studied, and your practice exam and quiz history with scores. They can also give you a name on their class roster, which only they see. They don’t see your flashcard schedule. If you leave the class, or the teacher removes you or deletes the class, they stop seeing it.
- Companies that run CertyStudy for us: Cloudflare (hosting, our database, and sending test trial emails), Google (sign-in), and Web3Forms (delivering feedback form messages to our email). They use the information only to provide those services.
- Others, only when the law requires it, for example to respond to a valid legal request.
Students, schools, and age
CertyStudy is for people 13 and older. If you’re under 13, please don’t use it. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13, and if we learn that we have, we’ll delete it.
When a teacher uses CertyStudy with a class, we use students’ information only to provide CertyStudy to that school and its students, never for advertising. Teachers are responsible for following their school’s rules for using apps with students. Students, parents, and schools can contact us to see or delete a student’s information.
How long we keep it, and deleting it
- We keep your account and progress for as long as your account exists.
- You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete account. That immediately and permanently deletes your progress, the classes you teach, and your place in classes you joined.
- Sign-in sessions expire after 60 days. Signing out ends your session and removes your progress from that device.
- Feedback messages stay in our email or database until we delete them.
- Test trial applications are kept until the trial ends or you ask us to remove yours.
- You can also email us to ask for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete it, and we’ll respond within 30 days.
Security
Everything travels over encrypted HTTPS connections. We store sign-in tokens only in a scrambled (hashed) form, and only the people who run CertyStudy can access our systems. No service can promise perfect security, but we work to protect your information and will tell affected users if we learn of a breach.
Where your information is stored
CertyStudy is run from the United States, and your information is stored by Cloudflare, mainly in the United States.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version here and update the date above. If a change is significant, we’ll also let you know in the app.
